  • Add a relevant person to LinkedIn and Twitter – target sports management people
  • Update Feedly feeds to include sports management and youth sports
  • Share article on Linked In and Twitter
  • Post “Two Reasons” on Twitter and Linked In
  • Begin PLANe process

After digging in further on the PLANe process via Will It Fly, definitely finding that I’m in a niche market. The potential still looks good but this is going to take more primary research than I thought.

Goals from last quarter (Jan-Mar 2017)

  • Compete in The Open (Master’s Division)
  • Begin an aerobic program
  • Take a paid marketing course of some sort to see what a program looks like
  • Begin the Will It Fly process to validate course idea
  • Put together the outline of a basic training course for digital marketing and find one business to try it out
  • Find a day in April to volunteer at Katy’s class
  • Finish Extreme Ownership
  • Pick a new book to read
  • Run a mile in under 6:15
  • Decide if witter is a better medium than Instagram
  • Find a way to integrate video in to one of my company’s properties and see what kind of impact it has (spring BAM Jam? Instagram Stories?)
  • Continue to build network

I’m happy with the quarter. Really got a lot done and stayed on track. The course outline is still a WIP but I don’t want waste my time going down the wrong path so that one is on pause. The sub 6:15 will actually get tested Sunday or Monday so we’ll see what happens on that.

Finishing The Open was really cool. I finished about where I thought (in the middle 50%) but it showed me some things that I really need to work out. From that info, I can put together some programming to address these needs for next year.

The Twitter vs. Instagram question was a draw. They just have different purposes. I can see Twitter being much better for connecting and sharing professional stuff while Instagram is a better fit for the ego.

Goals for the year

  • Run a sub 6 minute mile (start of this year is 6:23)
  • Get Fran time under 5:30 (start of this year is 6:05)
  • Validate a new idea via the Will It Fly process
  • Volunteer in Katy’s K class twice and in her first grade class twice
  • Volunteer in Matthew’s K class twice
  • Read or listen to 6 books (Extreme Ownership, Start With Why, The 10X Rule, The Four Hour Work Week, The Five Dysfunctions of a Team, Distruptive Marketing, Buy Buttons)
